Also, don’t forget to tune into the USA Network one hour before RAW to view the highlights from the Hall Of Fame ceremony, including Christian inducting Edge into the Hall Of Fame!
Jerry Lawler discussed Edge’s career stats. They went to a video on Edge. Christian was introduced to induct Edge.
Christian said that everyone has heard the news, something that could be bigger than Rock vs. Cena and Taker vs. HHH….someone got a haircut. That led to some Justin Bieber jokes.
Christian said it was so amazing…amazing Edge was trying to emulate his career and now the haircut proves it. He joked that Edge was going to delete title reigns to do that. He said they were just a couple of idiot kids that grew up in Toronto and knew that somehow they knew they were going to make it. He talked about them wrestling in Middle School in an area that was square like a ring. He said that no matter what you do in life sooner or later the kid goes back to the school and recreates that moment and pulls out security footage of Edge doing just that. It was pretty damn funny.
Christian said he’s proud to be inducting him because of something he said when they were breaking in. He said Edge grew up with his mother working multiple jobs. He said that he knew that he had to make it in the business so he could take care of his mom. Christian said he did that.
He talked about this time last year when he got the word that Edge was going to have to retire. He said they knew the clock was ticking but they thought it was going to end on his terms. Christian said they did end on his terms…as the World champ at Wrestlemania. He said that he thought you didnt get a bigger celebration of his career but he was wrong…that was tonight.
Edge came out. He and Christian hugged for a long time. Edge did all the mannerisms from his ring introduction. He had a huge smile on his face.
He said that he told himself he wouldn’t cry but he already was backstage. He thanked a number of names that he said wouldn’t mean anything to anyone but him. Continue reading »
I have added digitals of Christian from Day 1 and Day 3 of Wrestlemania Axxess to the gallery. Christian attended on both of those days and held a signing for the fans, as well as an in ring promo on Day 3.
MIAMI - WWE Superstars and Divas made a very special stop on The Road to WrestleMania Wednesday afternoon, visiting Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Health System in Miami to brighten the day of the kids.
The WWE contingent, which included Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali, Christian, The Bella Twins, Maxine and AJ, spent a few hours with the children. “There’s a lot of our fans that can’t make it out to WrestleMania, so we bring it to them,” R-Truth said.
The kids at Holtz also got a huge surprise, as Edge, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday, joined his former colleagues during the visit. “I came straight from the airport and hopefully put some smiles on faces,” he said.
Thursday’s visit was one of WWE’s many charitable efforts in the Miami area during WrestleMania Week. Superstars and Divas will be visiting hospitals and meeting with children through the Make A Wish Foundation, among other events.
WWE has added the Hall Of Fame 2012 music album to iTunes, and it features a different version of Christian’s current entrance music ‘Just Close Your Eyes’ by Bedlam’s Gate. You can listen to it above, or click HERE to buy it.
Due to an injury sustained by an attack from WWE Champion CM Punk on Monday’s Raw SuperShow, Christian has been deemed medically unable to compete as a member of Team Johnny at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Christian re-aggravated a prior neck injury during his match against Punk, who locked Christian in the Anaconda Vise twice and refused to let go of the hold after WWE officials tried to intervene.
In Captain Charisma’s place, Interim Raw GM John Laurinaitis announced on Twitter that he has selected Drew McIntyre to be a member of Team Johnny at WrestleMania.
The Straight Edge Superstar had become enraged following another surprise verbal attack from Chris Jericho via satellite. Prior to the contest, Jericho appeared on the TitanTron and made personal remarks about Punk’s birth, noting that it occurred before his parents’ wedding date.
Christian, competing in his first match since Nov. 11, 2011, originally injured his neck when Big Show gave him a massive chokeslam on the Nov. 4 edition of SmackDown.
WWE.com has posted a video of Christian being checked by the medical staff.
Christian vs CM Punk is advertised for later in the show!
Christian vs CM Punk
Christian makes his way out to the ring in his ‘Team Johnny’ shirt, followed by CM Punk. As Punk gets in the ring, Jericho gets on the titantron. He starts mentioning how CM Punk’s dad is an alcoholic, and how his sister has problems with substance abuse. He says he has found new information, some facts about his mother. It turns out, she’s actually a kind woman. He then tells Punk that he found out his parents got married, AFTER he was born. Which makes him the legitimate definition of a ‘Bastard’.
Christian jumps Punk from behind and begins to stomp on him. He starts nailing Punk with right hands and then tosses him out of the ring. Punk kicks him and snaps! He begins smashing Christian’s head repeatedly onto the announcers table, and hits him with another kick right in the head. He starts elbowing him in the throat, before pulling out the steel steps and and tossing Christian head first onto them. Punk jumps on top of Christian and hooks on the Anaconda Vice yelling to Jericho that this is going to be him at Wrestlemania. Finally, the referees come and pull Punk off of Christian. Punk begins to walk away, but runs back and starts nailing Christian in the head again and hooks on the Anaconda Vice for the second time! Punk finally gets off and goes back into the ring, raising his WWE Championship.
Result: No Contest
Later on, Michael Cole confirms that Christian is injured and will NOT be competing at Wrestlemania, thus removing him from Team Johnny.
One of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history will be reunited at the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony when Christian arrives in Miami to honor his lifelong pal, Edge.
Forming a friendship in middle school over a shared love of WWE, the future World Tag Team Champions attended WrestleMania VI in Toronto’s SkyDome together. More than a decade later, the duo stole the show at WrestleMania X-Seven where they won the tag titles in an exhilarating TLC Match. The team captured those championships a total of seven times before moving on to amazing singles careers.
Over time, the two Superstars have had their share of differences, but Edge and Christian have always gone back to being best friends. And just as they stood side by side at last year’s WrestleMania, they’ll stand side by side on the stage of the American Airlines Arena . . . for the benefit of those with flash photography.
